Frequently Asked Questions

A few thoughtful answers to help you feel at home in our process. Whether you're buying an heirloom or rehoming one, we hope this guidance brings clarity—and confidence. If your question isn’t listed here, we’re always just an email away.

  • At the Potomac Collective, rehoming refers to the thoughtful process of transitioning heirloom-quality pieces from one family to another. We don’t just “buy" or “sell antiques”—we help ensure each piece continues its story in a home that values its character, craftsmanship, and history.

  • Stewardship is at the heart of what we do. It means honoring the provenance of every piece we touch—curating with discernment, rehoming with care, and serving as trusted guides in the transition of cherished furnishings. Whether you’re buying or parting with an item, we treat each relationship with respect and discretion, and seek to care for both you and your treasured objects.

  • We operate year-round from three retail locations in Virginia—two in Richmond (West End Antiques Mall and Gramercy Collective) and one in Alexandria (Evolution Home). You can also find us at seasonal events including the Mid Atlantic Antiques & Garden Festival and Old Line Market at Aix La Chapelle Farm.

  • We’re happy to accommodate delivery and shipping. For larger pieces or long-distance transport, we ask that our clients coordinate their own freight shipping via UShip or a comparable service. We’re also glad to work with your preferred shipper and will assist with porter service on-site when needed.
